Caution: Wanna be geek alert.
There is a short process you have to do to get Wordpress to import posts from Blogger when your Wordpress is not hosted at Wordpress.com. I had a problem using the standard ‘Import from Blogger’ function. I had trouble getting the permissions and server paths correct in order to let Blogger authorize my domain.
To fix this I registered at Wordpress.com to get my free blog. I know that their permissions and server paths are all exactly how they’re supposed to be, right? I mean it’s their own system. So I use the ‘Import from Blogger’ (under ‘Manage’, then ‘Import’) to import everything from my blog. Which was pretty damn sweet by the way, it imported all the comments and pictures.
From there, I used their ‘Export’ function to export a wordpress specific xml file. Then I went back to my real blog, setup on my domain, and used the ‘Import Wordpress’ function again, this time importing the Wordpress xml file.
Worked great, saved all my stuff from Blogger, including the categories. It was a bit of a run-around, but it was easier than trying to get Blogger to authorize my domain.
I figured I would write this up, since I found several people having similar issues when googling for this problem.
